The sun peaking through the clouds

Psalm 119:9-16

One of the neat computer features of recent years is automatic program updating. Each day my computer checks the Internet for me to see if certain programs have been improved or modified. I can then choose to have the modification added or ignore it. In theory, I have the most up-to-date information and programming code available.

Garbage In – Garbage Out

As most people have heard or experienced that computers don’t always work the way they should. Most all problems are related to mistakes someone made in inputting commands. Sometimes even when the mistakes are corrected, other mistakes crop up.

God has a perfect automatic update and upgrade program built into His Software, the Bible. We are like computer hardware in the sense that God’s programming should guide what we do. His commands are perfect from the start and don’t need fixing, but we always need more of His instructions operating in our lives.

Psalm 119:9 says that God’s Word can keep us from sin. When you and I read God’s Word, the Holy Spirit can instruct us. Whereas we may not have been touched by a passage last year, the same one may strongly influence us now. We need to be in the habit of checking in on the Software so we get the updates we should get. Giving God the option to work through the Scriptures, His Holy Spirit will apply what we need to improve in our lives.

Take Away

We may get a message today that we didn’t see last week. God always wants to upgrade His creation as we read and apply His Word.
