Dear Leaders Chosen of God,

The poem below is from the pen of a close relative – as in son.

In His love,

Pastor Jack

THE BATTLE

The scenes have yet diminished
Still the story lingers on,
The facts have now been gathered
And a vic'try has been won.
The mighty prince of darkness
Has been dealt a fatal blow
While the stem from Jessie's root
Reigns victorious o're His foe.

The battle lines were stationed
The beginning soon to come.
The one side filled with warriors
With their suits of armor on.
Their foe, He caused some laughter,
For their foe, He was just One
No suit of armor did He wear
No weapons did He show.

As the battle soon was started
And the dark side took command
They seized the lonesome Warrior
Through the kiss of yet His own
The crown placed on the Warrior
Was a crown made out of thorns
While the words thrown all about Him
Came with hatred as their tone.

They led the lonesome Warrior
With His crown and tattered robe,
To a place for yet more beatings
'till He could not yet be known.
They soon would spit upon Him,
And they dealt Him many blows.
As the Judge gave a decision,
And He headed for "The Skull."

They forced a cross upon Him
As He headed up the hill
'till His strength did leave His body
He could carry it no more.
The cross would soon be carried
by a man found in the crowd
As they climbed the hill "Golgotha"
Where they dealt their final blow.

They took the lonesome Warrior
And they nailed Him to a tree
They put a plaque above Him
Mockingly they called Him King.
They crucified the Warrior
Yet forgiveness did He give
He said "Father forgive them
For they know not what they do."

His life it soon did leave Him
And a spear did pierce His side
It flowed out blood and water
As the darkness filled the sky.
The veil found in the temple
It was ripped from top to bottom
The mighty prince of darkness
Shouted "Victory, We Win!"

The warriors of darkness
Now rejoiced their victory
The Enemy was buried
They had won decisively.
They started celebrating
One they said would last for years
The grave, it was not empty
There within Messiah laid!

The vic'try feast soon ended
As the trump of God did sound.
The grave it soon was empty
The Messiah'd come alive
The battle that looked ended
Had begun yet once again
As the "Stem from Jessie's root"
Reigned victorious o're His foes.
