Thank-less-ness

By Michael Ullrich
Read Romans 1:18-23
A story is told of a Vermont farmer one day sitting on the porch with his wife. He was beginning to realize how much she meant to him. They had lived happily together forty-two years, and she had been such a help, and a very willing worker. As they sat quietly together, he said, "Wife, you've been such a wonderful woman that there are times I can hardly keep from telling you so."
You may know or even be a person like that. If you grew up in a family where feelings were not expressed and words often went unsaid, it was assumed your feelings were known. The Thanksgiving season is a great time to start expressing your thankful feelings.
In Paul's dissertation as to why all of mankind is guilty of sin, he observes ".even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks." (v. 21). This statement is sandwiched in a list of all sorts of evil and vile sins. God apparently doesn't think too highly of thanklessness!
Do you have a thankful attitude? Do you remember to thank others? Most importantly, are you thankful to God for all He has done, is doing and will do for you? Verbalize your attitude of gratitude! Thank your Heavenly Father today for the great gift of His Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
