Day by Day

By Carol Adams
Read Psalm 46:1

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" [Psalm 46:1].

There are many hymns and choruses today that tell about aiding, assisting, helping and supporting.  Help is a powerful word.  It can mean many things, but when we use titles of worship songs and hymns we have a firm foundation into the promises of God regarding that little word, "help".

You are my hiding place in moments like these.  Light our way, day by day. Those who sow in tears, he will not let you fall.  So tell it to Jesus and cling to the promises.  Turn your eyes upon Jesus for we are more than conquerors.  Let all your anxiety find its way into the haven of rest.  We must be standing on the promises, shouting the battle song, I can do all things through Christ, I must only believe.  He is a shield about me, He is able to deliver me - the rock of my salvation.  I need Jesus, Jesus I come, A shelter in the time of storm.  Someone said, throw out the life-line and he lifted me from the raging sea. He is able to deliver me.  Jesus, Savior pilot me; God is my refuge, Great is the Lord, Our God, our help, A shelter in the time of storm, for the Battle belongs to the Lord.

Now, I am sweetly resting in the Rock of Ages for Safe Am I in the hollow of His hand.

I exalt you and I will celebrate.  I worship you, Almighty God.  What a mighty God we serve.  You are my help and I have victory in Jesus.

Change my heart, O God!  Cleanse me.  Teach me thy way, and set my heart to do your will.  I will come and bow down.

To God be the glory!  Holy, Holy.  We worship you, Awesome God.  Ascribe to the Lord, give glory due His name.  I love you, Lord.

The third stanza of the song, Day by Day is:

Help me then, in every tribulation, so to trust Thy promises O Lord, that I lose not faith's sweet consolation offered me within Thy holy word.  Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting, E'er to take, as from a father's hand, one by one, the days the moments fleeting, Til I reach the promised land.

He is my Help and Deliverer, day by day!
