Leveling Fault
We had a
mysterious stove in our house. It sets in the kitchen along one wall like most
stoves. We cook in it and on it like most people do. Like many a
stove it is sometimes a frustration to the cook. For some reason my wife
doesn't seem to like it when cake bakes thicker on one end than on the other.
Hence, it was my job to try and level said stove!
Stoves
have little adjustable "feet" that are supposed to make is possible
to level them. I checked my carpenter's level and made adjustments. When I was
done the cake was still lopsided.
Do I say "Bonita must bake funny!" No! There
was an explanation that saved our relationship!
Do you
know that iron skillets are heavy? (dumb question). Do you know that if they
are setting stacked on a stove, it can cause it to set unlevel? If you removed
them to level the stove, then put them back the stove is still not level! The
answer? An outside force was the cause.
Paul
noted, "Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the
rulers... powers... world forces of this darkness... and spiritual forces of
wickedness in the heavenly places." (Eph. 6:12) Some of Satan's most
effective work results when we don't remember this. When we allow ourselves to
view church people or anyone as THE enemy, Satan has won half the battle. He
revels in getting us to fight people while ignoring his spiritual interference.
Let's remember who the real enemy is and level our
efforts there.
