Occupied
Its fun to watch small children play. They seldom get
bored because they can make a game out of almost anything. One time Ben, Daniel
and the neighbor kids spread an old discarded tablecloth at the end of our
drive and sat on it under a tree. In a few moments three of the youngsters were
pushing their tricycles up the hill and racing past the gathering place. The
playing was very low tech but they were happily and completely involved.
It seems hard to believe that anyone wishing to serve the
Lord would ever be bored or without something to do. Everywhere we look there
are suffering people and lost souls. Paul exhorted Titus to get the potentially
lazy Cretans (cp. Titus 1:12) on the ball. "Our people must learn to
engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so they will not be
unfruitful," he said.
They needed to be occupied!
What are you doing with your time? If the Lord returned
suddenly, how would He find you occupied?
Look around you this week for that one extra "good
deed" you could be involved in so you too can be occupied and fruitful.
Ask the Lord to make you a good steward of your time and give you direction so
that you might be serve Him. He loves to have requests like that!
